If you are flying in, the closest airports are Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), both are equidistant from Lakemont, where the Lake Rabun Hotel is located.
*If you are flying into ATL, we strongly urge you to take Atlanta rush hour traffic into consideration. As residents of the area, we have experienced it and would NOT recommend starting off a fun wedding weekend with jaw clenching, rage-inciting bumper to bumper traffic to kick off the celebration. -

This rural Blue Ridge hideout in North Georgia’s Chattahoochee National Forest is an outdoorsman’s paradise. From hiking in the heavily forested mountains to Ben’s favorite - trout fishing in one of the clear water streams, there is no shortage of adventures to be had at and around Lake Rabun.
Enjoy a swim in the lake, a day at the beach, or explore the quaint town of Lakemont, GA.
As many of you know, we love the great outdoors and a good ol’ fahsioned adventure off the beaten path, so we hope that all of our guests also get to enjoy what Lake Rabun has to offer!
Here are a list of our recommendations:
Bring a fishing rod and explore. Downstream of the Blue Ridge Dam of the Toccoa River, rainbow and brown trout are stocked annually while wild rainbow trout can be found in the tributary streams, such as Rock Creek. Pro tip - if you ask nicely, Ben might just give up his secret spot for special guests…
Hike Angel Falls. This trailhead is just a few minutes down the road from the Lake Rabun Hotel and is a popular spot! This wooded trail winds through the mountains and past streams to a terraced waterfall at the top.
Hike at Tallulah Gorge State Park. This is one of Ben and Olivia’s favorite hikes in the area. Expect to see breathtaking views of waterfalls, a gorge, a suspension bridge, and plenty of overlooks. there are a variety of trails suitable for different hiking levels.
Enjoy Lake Rabun. Rent a boat, kayaks, canoes, or simply enjoy the view from the Lake Rabun Beach Recreation Area for picnicking and swimming. The weather is still relatively warm in September so pack a swimsuit!

With Olivia as the resident “horse girl” and Ben hailing from cow-country Colorado, it should come as no surprise that the wedding vibe is country/Western. Ben and Olivia will be rocking their dress cowboy boots and hats at the reception, and they’d love for guests to join in the spirit however they see fit.
For those who own a bolo tie and boots, don't be afraid to dust them off and wear them with pride for this non-traditional occasion.
If you are more city-slicker than down-home country, we won't force you to join in. Just be ready to listen to a lot of country music and drink some whiskey.
Either way, no need to wear a full suit of a floor-length gown. We are more concerned with everyone having a great time and being ready to jump in on a line dance…or two.
